BMM fest gets a tangy taste of Bollywood

Filmmakers Sajid Khan (of ‘Heyy Babyy’ fame) and Robby Grewal (of ‘Samay’ and ‘MP3’) along with celebrity publicist Dale Bhagwagar, lent a filmi flavour to ‘Impressions 07’, an annual media festival organised by students of Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) from Vivekananda Education Society’s (VES) College of Arts, Science & Commerce in Chembur, this week.

Touted as the biggest inter-collegiate BMM festival of the year, the event comprising a participation of 18 colleges was charged with abounding energy and enthusiasm.

While Sajid judged a Script and Dialogue Writing Contest, Robby and Dale were judges for a Short-Film Competition titled ‘Ticket to Bollywood’. Hundreds of students from various colleges competed as budding filmmakers and music video directors. The judges gave plenty of subtle insights into the vast sphere of film making, which served as an eye opener for most.

Overwhelmed by their comments and talks at the competition, the organisers requested Robby and Dale to also judge a dance competition that followed on the college grounds, drawing an enormous crowd. Both the judges couldn’t help but marvel at the outstanding efforts put up by the students. Dale actually joined the frenzy and hysteria of the ‘Impressions’ media fest as a judge for the third consecutive year. He also participated in the grand finale, by announcing the winners of various competitions of this inter-collegiate event.

To add to the excitement, the VES College band called ‘ATKT’ put up a fabulous show of mesmerising music, with the crowd begging for an encore.

Aimed at giving Mass Media students a forum to exhibit their creative skills, this year, the festival joined hands with NASEOH (National Society for Equal Opportunities for the Handicapped); an NGO associated with helping mentally and physically challenged people relocate their lives by teaching them skills to establish themselves.
